On Sunday 20th January, we are delighted to be hosting Rami Sherman for an evening of learning, discussion and questions.
Rami was born on Kibbutz Lehavot Habashan in 1953. His parents were Holocaust survivors who had arrived in Israel in 1945. In 1972 Rami was enlisted to the army and was accepted into an elite unit, later becoming an Officer. In 1976, when an Air France place was hijacked and rerouted to Entebbe, Rami was the Operations Officer of the Rescue Unit, under the command of the late Yoni Netanyahu. Rami was one of the 33 officers and soldiers who freed the hostages from the terminal. He arrived with the first Hercules that landed in the airport, and was in the car that was driving behind the famous Mercedes. After Yoni Netanyahu was injured, Rami drove him to the Hercules. Later, Rami was the commander who led the rescued hostages from the terminal.
Rami visits the UK only rarely and we are very pleased to have secured him for one evening to visit us in Muswell Hill Synagogue.
Tickets are only £5 and available from: http://www.theus.org.uk/ramisherman
I hope you are able to join us for what promises to be a very interesting evening.
