Mitzvah Day is fast approaching – Sunday, 18 November!
For many years this has been an important date in our communal calendar; a time when we get to volunteer alongside our fellow members and participate in projects together.
This year we need some volunteers who have a small amount of time to organise one of the Mitzvah Day projects and oversee the project on the day. If you are interested, please email Ilana Swimer. There are also other opportunities to be involved:
Sainsburys food collection / Cooking for the Foodbank
We will be cooking for GIFT and the Foodbank from 12 noon until around 2.00pm at the Shul on Mitzvah Day – please come along and help out either for the whole time or for a one-hour shift between 12 noon and 1.00pm OR between 1.00pm and 2.00pm. Please email Ilana Swimer if you want to get involved.
Also, we will be collecting at Sainsburys, for the Foodbank, so please sign up here if you would prefer to collect food items instead – or indeed if you would like to do both!
“Love your neighbour as you love yourself”
This year, we are also collecting goods for the charity, AKWAABA – they run a drop-in social centre for asylum seekers and refugees, and we are running this project together with the Wightman Road Mosque. We will be collecting books, stationery and school supplies, for children and youth, and new gloves and toiletries for rough sleepers.
Please bring along to Shul (between 2.30pm and 4.00pm) 2 or 3 new items to pack!
Please email Ruth Jampel for more information about this particular project.
Thank you in advance.
