‘The Secret Symphony’ a play written by Rob Salter

The Secret Symphony follows the story of Rachel, a young Jewish woman and a junior researcher for BBC Radio. She is looking to make a documentary about domestic abuse in the Charedi Community in Stamford Hill. The only member of that community who will speak to her is a Lubavitch Rabbi, who agrees to be interviewed on the condition that Rachel learns with her. From this point on, Rachel’s life as she knows it, begins to unravel, as she makes contact for the first time with a three and half thousand year old spiritual tradition that challenges all of her twenty-first century certainties and leads her towards the toughest choice of her life.

The evening’s performance will be a rehearsed reading of a script written by Rob Salter, when he was part of the adult writer’s group at the Royal Court Theatre.

Refreshments and a discussion will follow the reading. To book go to:http://www.theus.org.uk/MHSsymphony
