Richard Abramson:
“Vengeance in Venice”, giving a different slant on Shylock in The Merchant of Venice
Richard had a mathematical background, qualifying as an actuary in 1976. His career was mostly spent in advising on pension schemes in a variety of consultancy firms. On retirement ten years ago, he decided to follow up an interest in Shakespeare by taking a masters degree in Shakespeare Studies at Royal Holloway College. Shortly afterwards he set up Shakespeare study groups at Hampstead Garden Suburb u3a, which have been running successfully ever since. He is married with four children and six grandchildren, and currently is chairman at Hampstead Synagogue.
