Love your neighbour as you love yourself

On Sunday over 30 women from Muswell Hull Shul and Wightman Road Mosque contributed and packed huge amounts of toiletries, stationery and warm weather gear for the Akwaaba Centre – a centre that supports refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers in Stoke Newington. It was a fabulous afternoon . The event kicked off with a welcome from Ruth Jampel and Rabbi David, followed by warm words from BiBi Khan of Wightman Road Mosque. We were honoured to have the Imam taking part in the event too, as well as a few other helpful men.

The atmosphere was warm buzzy and positive as we all worked together sorting, wrapping and labelling an amazing array of new items. We also had time to sit and have tea and cake, whilst Ruth gave a brief overview of the many links between shuls and mosques, focussing on the many similarities between Judaism and Islam.

Not only did we work together helping others, we enjoyed each others’ company and further cemented the genuine warm relationship Muswell Hill and Wightman Road Mosque shares.
