I am writing with details of our next meeting:-
Wednesday 19th March at 2.15 pm
AT MUSWELL HILL METHODIST CHURCH,
28 Page’s Lane, Muswell Hill, N10 1PP
INTERFAITH MEETING:
“133 years and counting!” The story of the Methodist Church in Muswell Hill
Reverend Matt Lunn and Gill Simpson
Muswell Hill Methodist Church is now on its third site, so the talk will be following the church active in the local community through all that time. It will start by a display of photos dipping into Victorian life in Muswell Hill before the first Methodist Church began and become familiar with North Bank as one of the big Victorian estates (nothing to do with the church).
The meeting will then move over into the church itself for a presentation about the story of the church and local history.
Reverend Matt Lunn:
Hailing from Hull in Yorkshire, Matt is a Methodist Minister in the New River Circuit. He’s a lover of coffee, cycling, football and rugby league. Matt’s journey to Muswell Hill has included working alongside the Police with the Street Angels project in Hull and he has also worked extensively with numerous youth groups including a personal favourite of his – Messy Church! Matt is married to Helen. Matt joined the church in Muswell Hill in 2018 from Queen’s Foundation College, Birmingham.
Gill Simpson:
Gill came to Muswell Hill in 1971, newly wedded to Brian and just qualified as a primary school teacher. Taking a career break in 1975 to start a family, she became involved in church-based community work on a voluntary basis – (especially with children and families) and that has been her unofficial ‘career’ ever since. She also has a passion for very local history, and for sharing it with all ages as a connecting point in our richly diverse community in Muswell Hill.
