A special tea party

Last Sunday we hosted a traditional English afternoon tea party for our members aged 80 years old and over.  Our older members came together to be with old friends, chat and catch up with those they hadn’t seen for a while.

The shul hall was decked out with fresh roses and white linen.  There were memorabilia posters as reminders of the classic times.  A selection of sandwiches, freshly baked cakes and scones served with tea was enjoyed by all.  A pianist was playing old time favourites and everyone had a good sing-a-long.  There was even some dancing!

With a great turnout and everyone having a brilliant time, it was a big success.  There were so many positive comments such as how lovely it was to see people and that the food was excellent, with high praise for the scones!   We were asked to hold more tea parties, so will be planning another one in the winter.

A big thank you to our volunteers, the drivers who collected our guests from their homes to take them to the tea party, the volunteers who prepared and baked the delicious food, as well as those who helped serve the tea.  Of course, a thank you to our guests too for making it such a special event.
