MELVYN HARTOG: “Talking about Death won’t kill you”
Whilst you may be full of apprehension and wonder what you are going to hear, in fact Melvyn is the man with the answers. He understands that people have questions regarding regarding all matters surrounding death, but by asking the wrong person they may end up up with strange answers.
By coming to hear Melvyn, you will be getting the answers straight from the “horse’s mouth”. His talk will reveal the light hearted, beautiful and dignified side of an inevitable journey.
Melvyn has been Head of Burial for the United Synagogue since 2002. He is married with two children and four granddaughters. He left school at 15 and became a hairdressing apprentice. In 1963 at the age of 16 he joined the Royal Navy and qualified as a Radio Operator. On leaving the Navy in 1972 he completed the knowledge of London to become a black cab driver. In 1975 he went into the world of insurance where he worked for over 20 years.
He is a member of the national Burial and Cremation Advisory Group which meets at the Home Office twice a year.
He tells us he has wonderful views on life and how his glass is always half full.
